Matzbach in Berlin

We were guests at the Matzbach before the 2nd lockdown and felt very comfortable. The conditions were all very nice and accommodating. We only ordered cocktails and nachos but what we could observe at the next tables of food was wonderful. We'll definitely come back and wish you a lot of strength in this difficult time. Light and shadow ... This review explicitly refers to the restaurant! I would have liked to have shared my points of criticism with those responsible myself. But unfortunately the manager (probably Cetin by name) did not think it was necessary to come to our table even after two inquiries from the service staff. Then via this channel: First of all: the food was okay, the drinks were very good. The restaurant (including the outdoor area) was perhaps 25% full. If it weren't for these subsequent kitchen / service debacles, I'd be happy to eat here again. So I really have to think about it. But in detail: We went to eat here with 6 people in the afternoon. Reservation and table assignment went well. When ordering, the waiter had to repeatedly show the menu to understand which dish we would like. He kept saying it was because of the new card. As I read here today, this "new card" seems to have been around for a month. And then came the big blunders: 1. For the sausages with potato soup ordered, 2 fried (better fried) curry sausages were served without casing. After the complaint, the waiter came back from the kitchen with the same plate and said that sausages were sold out. 2. An ordered pizza was served without the listed (and highly requested) artichokes. After the complaint, the waiter came back from the kitchen with the same pizza and also brought a bowl of olives, because the artichokes (we already suspected it) were sold out. 3. The third pizza wasn't served at all (and the waiter wrote everything down meticulously ...) and was only prepared on request. 4. This pizza came without the figs described. But now the customer was hungry and we were tired of complaining. So this time no complaint. 5. Now we come to the calculation: My sausages were still on there. The waiter said they had the same price as my replacement order (spaghetti carbonara). No! These are EUR 2, - cheaper! Which the waiter was convinced of with another look at the new menu. 6. Something was still there - but I forgot ..... And now to the conclusion, why I am really angry: Mistakes can happen and goods are sometimes sold out. But when something else is served to me without comment, I find it just cheeky. Where is the problem that the waiter comes and asks if he can serve the dish without XY or with YZ replacement? Now at least the sausages were thrown away. These are unnecessary costs for the restaurateur and unnecessary trouble for me as a guest. The peak of the guest's ignorance, however, is that the manager does not consider it necessary to come to the table in the event of a complaint. Are there anything more important than satisfied guests? And how do you work with this mentality in the area that is not visible to the guest, when the guest apparently doesn't care? Can I even rely on all standards and regulations being observed here? I would like the restaurant management to use my review as an opportunity to question and optimize my points of criticism and the processes. As I am curious, I will definitely come back to see if something has really improved .....

Great concept with the new outdoor terrace, just great. We stayed at the Hotel Matzbach for two nights. We have stayed at this hotel before, I have to say that a lot has changed for the better. The rooms are very clean, the staff are very polite. We felt very comfortable. Thank you very much .

The store is currently being rebuilt, we are very happy about extreme changes. Everything already looks great. Kreuzberg in a completely different way, I'm really excited. The menu is awesome! Food, top service, very nice. Thanks for the effort.

We have been regulars at Matzbach for years, but we would never have thought such a big change in what the restaurant is going through. Great menu and drinks menu. Keep up the good work, look forward to more 👍

Menu, the selection is great! The food was delicious, I definitely recommend the pasta platter for two people. And I have to say, the service was very polite and experienced. The only thing we didn't like were the toilet rooms. It was definitely too dark. But the entire restaurant will be completely rebuilt very soon. We're glad. Many thanks to the nice team.

Nice location. Decent beer and my food was flavorful. A little tip, I would preheat the plates before bringing out the dishes. Especially with meat. The enjoyment would be nicer.

Good cocktails (WIDE CHOICE) for a good price.

Formerly one of our favorite places after the tenant change, unfortunately a total disaster. Service is friendly but not very competent. Several times they asked what we had ordered, only to find out after +20 minutes that you had neither the wine on the menu nor standard drinks such as Campari ... in total it took 30 minutes until we had something to drink. Coffee was cold and beer was warm ... The menu now only consists of ready-made dishes such as pizza, fried foods and currywurst. You cannot pay by card because the EC machine never works. Have a new / old POS system and are not able to issue a receipt - let alone a hospitality receipt (who would suspect something bad here 🤔) Have been here once for dinner and today for drinks and won't come back as regulars.

Super nice location. The new menu is great and the prices are still very good. Of course it also tastes very good. We always love coming back here!

This plase is really bad! Service is horrible. She brought me a coctal 3 times wrong. The food was terrible. Lamb was very very raw. They made new but it wasn't tasty at all! At the end I ordered 1 more beer to me and my friend. The same one... but it tasted totally different. I will never go there again. Shity place. Do yourselves a favour and NEVER go there!

Horrible service! Ordered drinks and got wrong one at first! Then they changed only class but drink was the same and third time got right! The lamb was so raw that not possible to eat! Although they got new one it was still tasteless. One of the worst experience in Berlin!

Nice ambience, food was really good. The waiter wasn't my cup of tea. Much too "professional" and far too non-binding and a little rough. A little tutoring in dealing with customers would certainly be beneficial. Example: My food was not actually brought, but slammed on the table.

I have to say we have been here several times and noticed that it is different. The terrace looks much friendlier, it has become very inviting, the service is super nice, we felt very comfortable. I'm really happy because I'm from the area. Thank you very much.

Cooler Service

Service was good. Ice cream seemed to be from the supermarket.

Food is expensive and poor. The service / waitress demands a tip at the end.

Solid menu of standard South German pub grub. We had the cheese spaetzle and enjoyed them quite a bit. Staropramen Beer on tap is a plus and we had friendly service. The portions are large and it doesn't take long for your order to come through. The decor is a bit dated and the location seems a bit like a foyer but it's over-all a good restaurant.

Hotel is fine. Rooms are clean and decent. And the market downstairs is really nice and filled with any sort of goods. The real problem here is represented by the really obnoxious and unpleasant employees, always treating you like if they were doing you a favor just by listening to simple requests. Also, prices at the bar are insane. They asked me 5.90 € for a bottle of sparkling water. Definitely not worth going back.

Sunday brunch is supposed to be till 16:00, if dishes are finishing at 13:00 they are not refilling, the variety was poor, and if you complain you will be told off, the customer is never right

Decent German Cuisine, discreet service, nice area especially when the weather is nice.

In short: Stay away. Never have I met such an unpleasant owner who ended up calling us names and challenging one of us to a fight. Story: We were two people looking for a place to sit outside to eat in Kreuzberg and found this place with tables and covers, which seemed ideal. We ordered food and coffees, which was brought to us by a very friendly waitress. However, before long, grey clouds came over the area and it suddenly started to pour down with heavy rain. Without any sort of warning or offer to go inside, the restaurant pulled in the automatic cover (see picture) and let our almost entirely non-touched food and undrunk coffee out in the open and impossible to consume. Having told the waitress that we were going to leave as we had not been able to have any of the things we ordered, we were subsequently chased down by a caucasian man in his 40s, who yelled at us (in German). He asked us what kind of people we were to leave the restaurant without paying, to which we asked what kind of people they were to leave their guests out in the rain. He then threatened to call the police if we did not go back and pay for the food and coffee that we had not had. When we got to the restaurant, they had called out the owner, a man of Turkish origin in his late 30s, early 40s, who proceeded to ask us whether there was something wrong with our heads and how incredibly stupid we were. He asked us if, just like we needed someone to tell us that they were going to pull in the cover, we would need someone to guide us to the bathroom or read the menu out aloud. I will let you, dear reader, judge whether that seems like a valid comparison.. After we had paid following another threat to call the police, the two of us stood outside the restaurant with a third friend. The owner, cigarette in mouth, started to yell at our friend, asking him if he had a problem and wanted something to do with him. Luckily, he's clearly more of a talker than a doer, so nothing escalated beyond that. In short, we hope that you do NOT come and support this restaurant. The waitresses will find jobs elsewhere and not be subject to a yelling and threatening owner.

I think here I had the poorest breakfast of all Berlin, it seemed like a joke. And not cheap at all. But the coffee was not bad. And the place (ouside) is nice.
